The Rundown

Jeremiyah Love is being drafted at pick twenty-five — the thirteenth running back off the board — and every dollar of that price rides on a season that hasn't happened yet.

The knowns: Arizona took him [emphasis] third overall — the highest a back has gone since Saquon Barkley in twenty-eighteen, per NFL.com — after a Doak Walker Award season at Notre Dame and a third-place Heisman finish, per NCAA.com. The combine clocked him at four-three-six, per NFL.com. That resume is outstanding — and entirely collegiate.

[[SITUATION]]

The situation: last year's Arizona backfield barely existed. James Conner lasted three games. Trey Benson managed twenty-nine carries in four, and reports out of Phoenix say his knee is still an open question for camp, per Arizona Sports. The new staff is Mike LaFleur's, and he's told reporters he wants a multi-back rotation — he will, quote, never apologize for having too many good backs. Tyler Allgeier signed in the spring, per the club. So the job is winnable and crowded at the same time.

[pause] We tested whether rookie production can be predicted from draft slot and camp buzz — it can't, not at a standard we'd put our name on, so we won't pretend. The price is built on hope. We grade results, and the results start in September. We'll tell you what's real in October.

Watch his snap share in the first two weeks — most-of-the-snaps is a different asset than rotation piece — and whether Benson is on the field at all when camp breaks. [[CLOSE]] If he's one of your guys, this show exists for your whole roster — every player, every week, all season.
