Calvin Ridley Camp Update — August 31: Healthy Through Cut Day
2026 NFL Season · Monday, Aug 31
Calvin Ridley made the fifty-three listed first among six receivers, with no injury or absence note anywhere in the week's coverage. He started and played all three first-team drives against Seattle, where Cam Ward completed nothing beyond ten air yards.
When Calvin Ridley's week moves the numbers, you'll know — every episode, in one weekly email.

Calvin Ridley's week produced two facts, and for a 32-year-old receiver a year off a broken leg they are the right two. He made the initial 53, listed first among the six receivers kept, per Jim Wyatt at the team's website. And nothing else in the week's coverage names him at all — no injury note, no absence, no designation, through a joint practice, a finale he did not play with most of the starters, and cut day. The fibula question, which only retires one healthy week at a time, just retired the last week of camp.
The one usage fact on record answers what our August 20-third episode asked. Ridley started the win over Seattle and played all three drives with the first-team offense, per the club's postgame notes — the first-team role is not in question. The downfield targets we wanted to see never had a chance to exist: Cam Ward went oh-for-four on throws of 10-plus air yards with every completion inside 10, per Kevin Patra at NFL.com, so the first-team stint produced no deep ball to anyone. The notes carry no receiving line for Ridley, which we'll leave exactly there — an unlisted stat line, not a published zero.
Back in June we previewed Ridley as a player carrying two fades — the leg and the depth chart — and argued that was one too many. The depth-chart doubt is long gone; the leg fade shrinks a week at a time, and camp ended without adding a single medical note to the file. Quiet is the story, and quiet is fine. We'll be back as the opener comes into view.
