No score, three 14 left in the first quarter, first and 10 at the Chargers 23, the first snap after Hezekiah Masses returned an interception 29 yards. Kirk Cousins threw short left to Jack Bech, who got to the seven, had the ball knocked loose by Donte Jackson, recovered it himself at the three and stepped out of bounds there. The books have it as 20 yards. +1.6 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and first and goal at the three. Ashton Jeanty carried on the next four snaps and the Raiders came away with nothing.
The line: two targets, two catches, 25 yards, one first down, +1.5 expected points on the targets. The second catch was five yards short left on second and 14 at the Las Vegas 43 with three 22 left in the second quarter, on a drive that ended in a sack and a punt. Both targets came before halftime. After it, Cousins threw 16 times and none went to Bech.
The ball went seven times each to Tre Tucker and Jeanty, four to Michael Mayer, three to Jalen Nailor, and two each to Bech and Cody White, who turned his two into two touchdowns, with Brock Bowers inactive again, per ProFootballTalk at NBC Sports. Bech's two were two of 29 throws.
Back in June the preview called Bech a watchlist — receiver 100 at pick two 47, a second-year player priced on a vacated role and a year-two step from a rookie share of 7.6 percent, with the quarterback question clouding the whole thing. Week 1 was four targets, three catches and his first career touchdown, with only one target after halftime, and that one was intercepted. Sunday was two targets and none after halftime. Six targets in two games, five of them in first halves. The quarterback question has been quiet, since Cousins has thrown every pass. Sunday's share, two of 29 throws, is back near the rookie number, and two games is not enough to say it stays there. Las Vegas is at the Saints on Sunday the 20-seventh.
