Jauan Jennings Camp Update — August 31: A Secure Spot, Now on Paper

The spot we called secure is now on paper: Jauan Jennings is on the initial 53 Minnesota announced Sunday, one of six wide receivers with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Tai Felton, Myles Price and undrafted rookie Dillon Bell, per Rob Kleifield at the team's website. Four receivers were waived at the deadline — Michael Briscoe, Terrill Davis, Trayvon Rudolph and Marcus Sanders Jr., per Tyler Forness at A to Z Sports — and Jeshaun Jones opens the season on reserve/suspended for three games, per Josh Alper at Pro Football Talk. Jennings himself drew no individual item all week.

Both halves of our watch line came back empty, for different reasons. Live targets in the finale never happened: Kevin O'Connell rested his starters in Friday night's 34-to-six loss at Denver, per Craig Peters at the team's website, so Jennings's entire summer target ledger closes at the two joint-practice throws from Kyler Murray our last episode charted — the short gain in Wednesday's two-minute drill and the deep ball that set up the winning field goal Thursday. And where he lines up in three-receiver sets is still unwritten: the roster answers who made it, not where anyone aligns, and no source in the window published a depth chart or an alignment note. We won't infer one from a six-man room.

The question hanging over Jennings since our June preview — whether targets follow him into a room where Jefferson, Addison and T.J. Hockenson eat first — still has exactly two entries in its ledger, both practice-grade, both from the starting quarterback in scripted situations. Cut day confirmed the personnel around the question without touching the question itself. We'll return to it once there are live targets to count.
