Dart completed 3 of 5 throws for 20 yards and did not carry the ball. On third and eight at the Los Angeles 43 with 11:28 left in the first quarter his deep throw to Theo Johnson fell incomplete, and the play-by-play notes he was injured during the play; he did not throw again. Jameis Winston took every Giants pass play after that, 27 throws and two sacks, in a 28–6 loss to the Rams.

Nothing to nothing, 11 28 left in the first quarter, third and eight at the Los Angeles 43. Jaxson Dart threw deep left for Theo Johnson, 25 yards in the air, and it fell incomplete. −1.8 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −3.7 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. The play-by-play carries one more line about it: Dart was injured during the play. He did not throw again, and Jameis Winston took every Giants pass play the rest of the night.
The line, all of it from the first quarter: three completions on five throws, 20 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions, no sacks, −1.1 expected points on five pass plays. The completions were four yards to Isaiah Likely on third and three at the New York 37, which converted and was worth +1.2; 14 yards to Malachi Fields on first and 10, a first down, +1.0; and two yards to Cam Skattebo. He did not run, designed or scrambling, and he did not kneel.
What the night became belonged to Winston: 11 completions on 27 throws for a hundred 11 yards, two sacks, and an interception in the end zone on a ball intended for Malik Nabers. The Giants as a team threw for a hundred 31 yards, the second-fewest of the 32 teams in Week Two, and their passing game produced −17.6 expected points on 34 pass plays, the third-worst. They did not score a touchdown.
Back in June the preview made no call on Dart at the eleventh quarterback: nine rushing touchdowns as a rookie, a franchise record for a Giants quarterback, a genuine rushing floor, and a passing game described as the project. Week One answered the passing half loudly — 23 of 29 for 230, three touchdowns, no interceptions, and every third down he touched converted — +8 runs for 59 yards. Week Two answered nothing, because there was nothing in it: five pass plays and a line in the play-by-play. This show is not going to tell you what the injury is, because the data does not say and nothing here is attributed. What two games have produced is one full game of evidence and one quarter of a game. New York is home to the Titans on Sunday the 20-seventh.
