Justin Jefferson ended Wednesday's joint practice against Baltimore in the end zone: with the two-minute drill on the line, Kyler Murray threw off his back foot under pressure and arced a touchdown to Jefferson over safety Malaki Starks and cornerback Marlon Humphrey, per Craig Peters and Rob Kleifield at the team's website. The two charters disagreed about most of that practice — Tyler Forness at A to Z Sports scored the day as a struggle in which Baltimore's defense controlled the sessions — but both signed off on this rep, with Forness calling it "a perfect ball." Thursday added a quieter entry, Jefferson catching a flat route from Murray during the two-minute drive that set up Will Reichard's 46-yard field goal, per Kleifield and Peters. The honest counterweight came Monday, when a Murray over route intended for Jefferson was intercepted by Theo Jackson in the red-zone period, per Kleifield.

Jefferson sat Saturday's 13-to-three loss to the Ravens along with the rest of the starters, per Adam Patrick at The Viking Age, so there is still no preseason game usage to grade — and against Baltimore's actual starters in practice is arguably the better sample anyway, since that is where Starks and Humphrey were.

Our June preview framed Jefferson's down season — two touchdowns on a hundred 41 targets — as a conversion problem waiting on a quarterback, and contested scoring plays against a real starting secondary are the specific kind of evidence that framing wants, with one interception to keep the sample honest. Watch next whether Jefferson plays at all in the preseason finale or is saved for the opener, and whether the red-zone work with Murray keeps showing up in the practice file through cutdown on Sunday, August 30. We'll check after cut day.
