10 to 17, Eagles, eight oh two left in the third quarter, first and 10 at the Tennessee 31. Nicholas Singleton, inactive in Week 1 according to the Titans' game-day report, took his first regular-season handoff up the middle and lost a yard. He got the next one too, around left end for six. −0.8 expected points added on the first — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and about zero on the second.
That drive was his whole day. It went 12 plays and 69 yards, and Singleton had four of the carries: −1, six, four on first and 10 from the Philadelphia 30, and one on first and 10 from the 16. Four carries, 10 yards, no first downs, one of the four successful, −1.2 expected points. No targets. From the six the drive went to Tony Pollard, twice, and then to Cam Ward, who scored from the one to tie the game at 17. Singleton did not carry on any other Tennessee possession. All four Titans kickoff returns were Chimere Dike's.
The split: 27 designed runs, Pollard 14, Tyjae Spears seven, Singleton four, Ward two.
Back in June the preview would not project Singleton — a fifth-round pick coming off foot surgery, behind two backs his head coach had called bell cows — and it said to watch special teams first, and any week Pollard's touch count dipped, because that was the door. Neither happened on Sunday. He was not the returner, and Pollard's carries doubled from the week before. What did happen is that he was active and the third back got one drive. That is a debut, and nothing larger yet. Tennessee is at the Giants on Sunday the 20-seventh.
