Six to three, Jaguars, a minute 27 left in the first half, second and seven at the Cincinnati seven against the Bengals. Trevor Lawrence threw short left to Brian Thomas for the touchdown, his first of the season. +3.1 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and eight points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. It finished the short field that Lewis's interception return had handed Jacksonville, and with the kick it was 13 to three.

The line: two targets, two catches, 17 yards, one touchdown, one first down, +2.8 expected points on the targets. The other catch came on first and 15 at the Cincinnati 49 in the second quarter, the snap after Bhayshul Tuten's 44-yard run was called back: 10 yards short left, pushed out at the 39. He was also the target on the two-point try after Chris Rodriguez's fourth-quarter touchdown, incomplete.

The split: two of the 23 Jaguars throws; Brenton Strange had eight and Jakobi Meyers four.

Back in June the preview put Thomas on the watchlist after a sophomore drop to 48 catches on 91 targets, with the target volume as the tell. The four weeks have gone three, eight, one and two targets: 14 in all, nine catches, a hundred five yards, one touchdown. The touchdown arrived. The volume the June read asked about has not.
