Chris Olave drew the most targets on the team against the Steelers and got little value from them: 10 targets, 6 catches, 56 yards and -1.7 expected points added (EPA). EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

His best catch came down 10-3 with 4:41 left in the half: fourth and 2 at the Pittsburgh 44, Tyler Shough threw short left and Olave got 11 yards before stepping out, +2.9 EPA and 8.3 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. The drive ended in the tying touchdown. His 10-yarder on third and 7 extended the first drive, and with 7:04 left, down 16-10, a 14-yard catch ruled incomplete was reversed on New Orleans's challenge.

The costly target came down 13-10 with 7:43 left in the third: second and 7 at the Pittsburgh 10, a short throw to the right for him that Payton Wilson intercepted at the 11, -6.2 EPA and -20.8 points of win probability. Three other throws to him fell incomplete, all in the first half.

It was well off his season pace. Through Week 6 he had 61 targets, 43 catches, 580 yards, 2 touchdowns and +39.1 EPA, +0.64 a target; here it was -0.17. The 56 yards made three straight games under 60, after 46 against the Vikings and 43 against the Giants.
