His last target was Tyson Bagent's incompletion on third and two from the Minnesota 12 with six seconds left, one snap before the game ended on a sack, in a 9–3 loss to the Vikings.

Nine to three, Vikings, six seconds left, third and two at the Minnesota 12. Tyson Bagent, in for the injured Caleb Williams, threw short middle for Colston Loveland, incomplete. −0.2 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −7.2 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. On fourth down Dallas Turner sacked Bagent and the game was over.
The line: three targets, one catch, three yards, no first downs, −1.5 expected points on his targets, 13 air yards. The catch was second and 15 from the Chicago 37 with two 17 left in the first quarter, tied at three, short right, pushed out at the 40. The second target was first and 10 at the Chicago 27 with four 55 left in the third, short left, incomplete. The third was the one with six seconds left.
The play that would have changed the line does not count. Three oh two left in the second quarter, first and 10 at the Minnesota 30, down six to three: Williams short middle to Loveland for 14 yards to the 16. It came back on an illegal shift on Sam Roush. From there the drive took a holding penalty, an intentional grounding penalty and a false start, and Chicago punted on fourth and 29.
The tight ends drew seven targets: three to Loveland, three to Roush, one to Cole Kmet, who was injured on D'Andre Swift's fumble and returned on the next Bears series. Two catches and 12 yards between the three of them. Luther Burden had seven targets, Swift and Kalif Raymond five each, Rome Odunze four.
Back in June the preview leaned overpriced on Loveland: the third tight end off the board after a rookie year that finished twelfth at the position, a price that assumed a second-year leap, and his target share — toward eight a game if the leap was on — plus the red-zone role as the September watch. Week 1 was two targets and no catches, with an end-zone interception thrown his way wiped out by a penalty. Two weeks in, it is five targets, one catch and three yards. A flag erased an interception for him in Week 1 and erased his longest catch in Week 2. Two games settle little, but five targets in two games is a long way from eight in one. Chicago is home to the Eagles on Monday the 20-eighth.
