Deshaun Watson had a poor day by the numbers against the Ravens and still made the throws that won it: 16 of 26, 164 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions, 5 sacks. He was worth -7.6 expected points added (EPA) on 37 dropbacks, -0.21 per dropback. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

His best snap came at 10-10 with 42 seconds left. Third and 5 at the Cleveland 38: he threw deep over the middle to Jerry Jeudy for 33 yards to the Baltimore 29, +2.2 EPA and +16.8 points of win probability, and the drive ended in the winning field goal. Two other fourth-quarter third downs went the same way: 15 yards to KC Concepcion on third and 4, on the drive Audric Estimé finished to tie it, and 13 yards to Jeudy on third and 6.

The sacks cost the most. Down 7-0 in the first quarter, third and 5 at the Cleveland 29, Calais Campbell dropped him for an 8-yard loss, -2.6 EPA. His 8 carries went for 29 yards, and 62% of them were successful, gaining positive EPA.

It was his first game this season without a touchdown pass. Through Week 5 he had +10.5 EPA on 184 dropbacks, +0.06 per dropback, with 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. His completion percentage over expected (CPOE), how often he completed passes against what their difficulty predicted, was -0.8, after -2.4 through Week 5.
