Devaughn Vele had a modest day against the Giants: 6 targets, 3 catches, 42 yards and -0.6 expected points added (EPA) on his targets. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

His best catch came down 7-0 in the second quarter. First and 10 at the Giants' 45 with 8:32 left, Tyler Shough threw short to the left and Vele ran 18 yards before going out at the 37, +1.2 EPA and +2.8 points of win probability. Up 17-10 in the third, his 8-yard catch to the Giants' 15 came on the drive Shough finished with a 1-yard touchdown run. A 16-yard catch on third and 25 in the first quarter fell short of the sticks.

The misses outweighed the gains. Three of his targets fell incomplete, the costliest a deep ball on third and 10 at the Saints' 49 with 6:08 left, -1.6 EPA.

Through Week 5 he had 37 targets, 25 catches, 252 yards, 2 touchdowns and +14.4 EPA.
