Wilson caught six of seven targets for seventy-nine yards, including thirty-one down the right sideline and twenty-two down the left in the third quarter, and converted fourth and two at the Tennessee forty on the nineteen-play drive in the second. His seven targets were worth plus five point five expected points, the most of any Jet, in a 23–10 win over the Titans.

The throw that kept the Jets' longest drive alive Sunday went to Garrett Wilson. Fourth and two at the Tennessee 40, 10 14 left in the second quarter, New York up seven to three: Geno Smith short middle, nine yards to the 31. That catch was worth +2.8 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 5.9 points of win probability, the biggest single number in his day. The drive had started at the New York 12 with a minute 51 left in the first quarter and ended in a field goal with five oh six left in the half, 19 plays in all.
The line: seven targets, six catches, 79 yards, no touchdowns, +5.5 expected points on the targets. The two long ones came in the third: second and two at the New York 28, deep right, pushed out at the Tennessee 41 for 31 yards, on the drive that ended in Breece Hall's touchdown; and first and 10 at the 46, deep left, pushed out at the 32 for 22, on the drive that ended in a 51-yard field goal. The one incompletion was the second throw that counted, deep left from the Tennessee 35. Both of his third-down targets were caught and neither reached the line to gain — seven yards on third and 15, six on third and seven. He also drew a defensive pass interference call on the opening drive and had a false start with 16 seconds left in the half that carried a 10-second runoff.
Seven targets on 24 Jets pass plays is a bit under 30 percent, and nobody else had more than three. Adonai Mitchell caught three for 60, Omar Cooper one for 30 before he left the game, and the other 13 throws went to seven different Jets, with one that had no intended receiver. Four of Wilson's targets came before halftime and three after; the three after went 31, 22 six.
Back in June the preview had Wilson on the watchlist — a 35-percent-share alpha whose ceiling depended on an unsettled quarterback room. Sunday the room was Geno Smith for every throw, the share was seven of 24, and the yards came on two deep balls rather than volume. One game does not settle the ceiling, and it was a low-volume passing day to settle it on. New York is home to the Packers on Sunday the twentieth. The number to watch is the target count on a day the Jets have to throw.
