Seven to nothing, Raiders, 11 51 left in the second quarter. Matt Gay kicked off 60 yards to the Chargers five, and Kimani Vidal brought it out 26 yards to the 31. The drive that followed went 10 plays and 69 yards and ended with Omarion Hampton's one-yard touchdown, the Chargers' first points. Vidal did not touch the ball on it.
His other appearance in the play-by-play came after a turnover. With three 26 left in the first quarter, Hezekiah Masses intercepted Justin Herbert at the Las Vegas 48 and returned it 29 yards, and Vidal made the tackle at the Chargers 23. The Raiders got to the one from there and did not score.
No carry, no target, no touch from scrimmage. The handoffs went 23 to Hampton and five to Keaton Mitchell, with one more run for Quentin Johnston. Mitchell returned the other two kickoffs the Chargers brought out.
Back in June the preview called Vidal a watchlist for a reason that had nothing to do with his production — a top-35 back per game a year ago when Hampton's injury handed him the volume, priced at pick two 12 as the 60-fifth back because the role now belongs to a healthy first-rounder and a new signing. Week 1 his name was not in the play-by-play at all. Sunday it was there twice, on a return and a tackle. 44 handoffs to Chargers running backs in two games, none to Vidal, and Hampton had 25 touches on Sunday. The preview said Hampton's availability was the entire ceiling here, and nothing in two games has argued with it. The Chargers are at the Bills on Sunday the 20-seventh.
