Malachi Fields got the most targets of his season against the Saints and little came of them: 8 targets, 2 catches, 19 yards, -5.8 expected points added (EPA) on his targets. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

The costliest came down 34-10 with 10:27 left. Third and 10 at the Saints' 44: J.J. McCarthy's short pass to the right for Fields was intercepted by Martin Emerson at the 37, -3.9 EPA. Emerson picked off another throw to him with 5:14 left, but replay reversed it to an incompletion. Jameis Winston's three first-half throws to Fields, one deep down the middle on second and 12 at the Saints' 16, all fell incomplete.

His catches came late. An 8-yarder to the Saints' 5 with 7:43 left set up Tyrone Tracy Jr.'s touchdown run, and he added 11 yards over the middle to the Giants' 19, down 34-24.

Through Week 5 he had 17 targets, 10 catches, 146 yards, 1 touchdown and +2.4 EPA, never more than 6 targets in a game.
