The full read
Mike Evans smashed the Seahawks for his most yards and targets of the season: 10 targets, 7 catches, 113 yards, 1 touchdown, and +10.4 expected points added (EPA) on his targets. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
The game turned on one drive. Down 26-21 early in the fourth quarter, third and 10 at the Seattle 49 with 13:11 left, Brock Purdy threw deep middle and Evans caught it at the Seattle 26 for 23 yards, +15.5 points of win probability. An intentional grounding penalty pushed the 49ers back to second and 21. On the next snap Purdy went deep right and Josh Jobe pushed Evans out at the 9, 28 yards later, +14.0. Brandin Cooks caught the touchdown two snaps after that, and Evans caught the two-point pass for a 29-26 lead.
He opened the scoring too. After Renardo Green's first-quarter interception, Evans caught a 13-yarder on third and 7 and ran out at the Seattle 2, +2.4 EPA, then scored from 2 yards on the next snap for 7-0. He added a 23-yarder late in the first half.
Through Week 4 he had 24 targets, 17 catches, 213 yards, 2 touchdowns and +24.8 EPA, with a best of 76 yards in Week 4 and 8 targets the same week.
