Omar Cooper Jr. caught everything thrown to him against the Dolphins: 5 targets, 5 catches, 115 yards, a touchdown and +9.2 expected points added (EPA). EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. It was his second straight game over 100 yards, after 103 against the Patriots.
The catch that defined it came down 21-7 with 7:34 left in the third quarter. On third and 7 at the Jets' 30, Geno Smith threw deep middle and Cooper caught it 35 yards downfield, then ran 25 more to the Miami 10: 60 yards, +5.08 EPA and 8.7 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. Three snaps later, on third and 3 at the 3, he caught the touchdown short left, and the extra point made it 21-14.
He had already opened the Jets' first scoring drive. Down 7-0 on the drive's first snap, first and 10 at the Jets' 35, he caught a deep pass to the right for 52 yards to the Miami 13, +3.24 EPA and 7.9 points of win probability; Mason Taylor scored three snaps later. His other two catches gained 0 yards between them.
In his two earlier games with a stat line, Weeks 1 and 6, he had caught 7 of 8 targets for 133 yards, a touchdown and +9.5 EPA.
