Parker Washington's biggest gain against the Bengals lasted until the replay. 22 to 17, Jaguars, two minutes left, third and 10 at the Jacksonville 45, Cincinnati out of timeouts. Trevor Lawrence threw short left, Washington caught it, and the ruling on the field had him down at the Cincinnati 16, 39 yards. The replay official reviewed whether he was in bounds and reversed it: out of bounds at the Cincinnati 48, seven yards, three short. A delay-of-game penalty followed, and Jacksonville punted.
The line: three targets, one catch, seven yards, −2.1 expected points on the targets — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. One carry, three yards around left end in the first quarter. The other two targets were incompletions: second and 10 at the Cincinnati 10 in the second quarter, and third and 10 at the Cincinnati 36 in the third, deep left, before a 54-yard field goal.
Back in June the preview called Washington a third-year breakout in a defined slot role, with availability the caution. He has played all four games, on six, 12, five and three targets: 26 targets, 16 catches, 228 yards, two touchdowns, and still the most targets on the team this season. Sunday, Brenton Strange had eight.
