Samaje Perine Camp Update — August 31: The Roster Question Answered Yes

The only question that mattered for Samaje Perine had a date on it, and the date came back yes. He is on Cincinnati's initial 53, one of three running backs kept alongside Chase Brown and Tahj Brooks, per Geoff Hobson at the team's site. Kendall Milton — the third name in the competition we laid out a week ago — was waived Sunday, per the team's announcement, along with Kentrel Bullock and Jamal Haynes, and veteran Gary Brightwell's contract was terminated.

The shape of the cut is worth a plain sentence. Bullock and Haynes carried the finale — 14 for 85 and a touchdown, and seven for 78 with a 39-yard score, in Friday's 30 to 13 win at Philadelphia, per Jay Morrison at Bengals On SI — and both were waived two days later. That's a normal cut-day outcome: a reserves-game audition informs the decision, it doesn't make it.
