Shedeur Sanders came in against the Steelers on the opening drive, after Deshaun Watson was hurt on a third-down throw that drew a roughing-the-passer penalty, and played out the drive. He completed 2 of 2 for 2 yards, and his two dropbacks were worth -1.6 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. His first throw, an incompletion, was wiped out by an ineligible-man-downfield penalty. On third and 14 at the Cleveland 40 he hit Harold Fannin Jr. for 2 yards, and Daylen Everette forced and recovered a fumble that Pittsburgh won on a challenge. Watson returned on the next series.
His only other appearance this season was one completed pass in Week 3.
