16 to 10, Jaguars, the first snap of the fourth quarter, first and 10 at the Jacksonville 36. Joe Burrow went deep right for Tee Higgins, and Higgins caught it at the 10, 26 yards. +1.4 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and nine points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. On the next snap Burrow threw short right for Mitchell Tinsley, and Oluokun intercepted at the 10.

The line: 16 targets, 11 catches, a hundred 57 yards, no touchdown, eight first downs, +7 point oh expected points on the targets. 219 air yards, 30 after the catch. The catches went 14, two, 10, seven, 14, 16, 14, 26, 18, 19 17. The first 14 opened Cincinnati's first possession. The 16 came on second and 13 to start the second half, and the next 14 took that drive to the Jacksonville 30; it ended in Mike Gesicki's touchdown. Down 22 to 10 with five 47 left, on second and 21, he went deep left for 19, and the play-by-play marks him injured on the catch. It has him back two snaps later, catching 17 to the Jacksonville 30 on the drive Burrow finished with a one-yard touchdown run. Five incompletions: two deep balls in the first half, a short throw at the Jacksonville 18 in the third quarter, and two on the drive after the interception. A deep throw his way in the first quarter was intercepted and wiped out by a roughing-the-passer penalty. Seven targets before halftime, nine after.

The split: 16 of the 53 Cincinnati throws that had a receiver, 30 percent, ahead of Chase Brown's 11 and Dohnte Meyers's nine. Ja'Marr Chase had three, all before the play-by-play marked him injured in the second quarter.

Back in June the preview read Higgins's season as built on touchdowns, 11 on 59 catches, with a 56-yard-a-game receiver on an 18 percent share underneath. Four games in, he has one touchdown and 401 yards, about a hundred a game, on 39 targets, a quarter of the Bengals' throws with a receiver. 16 targets and a hundred 57 yards are his most this season. On Sunday the touchdown was the part that did not come.
