14 to seven, Ravens, 10 20 left in the second quarter, first and goal at the Baltimore eight. Tony Pollard ran up the middle for three, at right guard for two, at left guard for one, and on fourth and two Tennessee snapped it directly to him. He went at right guard and was stopped for no gain at the two. −3.1 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −6 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. Baltimore went 98 yards the other way.
The line: 16 carries, 48 yards, one touchdown, three first downs, −2.0 expected points on the carries; four targets, two catches, two yards. The touchdown came in the first quarter, third and three at the three, right guard, to tie it at seven, at the end of a drive he opened with runs of five and seven. 13 carries before halftime for 38 yards, three after for 10. Cam Ward's interception, on the second snap of the game, was a throw intended for him.
The backfield: Pollard 16 carries, Nicholas Singleton three, Tyjae Spears two.
Back in June the preview called Pollard a workhorse whose line was built on volume rather than explosiveness. Four games: 54 carries, 221 yards, one rushing touchdown. The volume is still there; Sunday's three yards a carry was the lowest of his four games.
