Tony Pollard carried the load against the Texans without breaking anything open: 14 carries, 52 yards, -0.4 expected points added (EPA) on the ground. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. His success rate, the share of carries that added positive EPA, was 36%.

His best run came on the opening drive. Second and 6 at the Houston 43, he went 14 yards off right guard to the 29: +1.4 EPA and 7.7 points of win probability. The drive later stalled at the 12 and ended in a field goal.

His worst moment was not a carry. Down 6-3 early in the second quarter, first and 10 at midfield, Cam Ward threw short over the middle for him and Jake Hansen intercepted: -5.8 EPA and -16.5 points of win probability, the biggest swing of the game. It was his only target.

The rushing matched his baseline. Through Week 4 he had 221 yards on 54 carries, -4.1 EPA and a 39% success rate.
