Travis Hunter — Week 2: No Targets, Twenty-Two Penalty Yards
2026 NFL Season · Half-PPR Scoring · Monday, Sep 21
Hunter had no carry and no target; every appearance he makes in the play-by-play is on defense, including a pass breakup on Denver's first third down and four credited tackles. His 22-yard pass-interference penalty with 7:30 left in a tied game set up Jonah Coleman's 3-yard touchdown on the next snap, in a 20–13 loss to the Broncos.

Tied at 13, seven 30 left in the fourth quarter, second and 10 at the Jacksonville 28. Bo Nix threw deep right for Courtland Sutton, incomplete, and the flag was on Travis Hunter: defensive pass interference, 22 yards, with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Jacksonville added between downs. For Denver the play was worth +2.4 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 7.7 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. First and goal at the three, and Jonah Coleman scored on the next snap. 20 to 13 was the final.
On offense, the line is empty. No carry, no target, no touch. Trevor Lawrence threw 29 times to eight different Jaguars and Hunter was not one of them.
Everything with his name on it is on the other side of the ball. On Denver's first third down of the game, third and 10, he broke up a throw to Pat Bryant and Denver punted. He is credited with the tackle on an eight-yard Coleman catch in the first quarter, on a seven-yard Sutton catch and a 17-yard Evan Engram catch on the go-ahead drive, and on Coleman's 12-yard run on Denver's last real snap, +1 on an Engram catch that came back on a penalty.
Back in June the preview put Hunter on the watchlist: cheap, but the price was buying a receiving role that Jacksonville's own general manager had said would give way to more defense. Week 1 was one carry, one catch and one tackle, and the episode said the number to watch was targets. Sunday the number was zero. Two games, one target, and this week his name is in the play-by-play only on defense. That is the preview's fear arriving on schedule, though two games is still two games. Jacksonville is home to the Patriots on Sunday the 20-seventh.
