McBride caught 8 of 10 targets for 41 yards and Arizona's only touchdown, 2 yards on fourth and two on the first snap of the second quarter. Nine of the ten targets came before halftime and his longest catch was 9 yards. He led the Cardinals in targets, catches and yards on a day Jacoby Brissett threw for 95, in a 31–7 loss to the Seahawks.

Seven to nothing, Seahawks, the first snap of the second quarter, fourth and two at the Seattle two. Jacoby Brissett threw short left to Trey McBride for the touchdown. +3.7 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 13.6 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. Both were Arizona's best figures of the day on any pass or run, and second in the game only to Jaxon Smith-Njigba's 82-yard touchdown. The extra point tied it at seven. Those were Arizona's only points.
The line: 10 targets, eight catches, 41 yards, one touchdown, three first downs, +5.1 expected points on his targets. 36 air yards, 15 after the catch. The catches went nine, nine, three on third and three, five, the two-yard touchdown, four, one, and eight on third and seven. The longest was nine. Nine of the 10 targets came before halftime; the one after it was the eight-yarder, third and seven at the Arizona 30 with five 26 left in the third quarter, down 17 to seven, converted. The two incompletions: second and nine at the Seattle nine, two snaps before the touchdown, and third and two at the Arizona 11 with five 38 left in the second quarter, tied at seven, after which Arizona punted. A six-yard catch in the first quarter came back on an illegal shift. Three third-down targets, two conversions, plus the fourth down.
The share: 10 of Brissett's 28 throws. Michael Wilson had seven, Jeremiyah Love and Kendrick Bourne three each, Tyler Allgeier two, Marvin Harrison one, and two had no receiver. McBride led the team in targets, catches and yards, and his 41 were not far short of half of Brissett's 95. Arizona ran 20 pass plays before halftime and 10 after.
Back in June the preview called McBride underpriced — the top tight end per game a year ago on a hundred 69 targets, with targets per game the stickiest stat at the position and his 9.9 the most of anyone. The thing to watch was whether the share held near 10 under the new staff. Week 1 was 13 targets for 95 yards. Sunday was 10 for 41. Through two games it is 23 of Arizona's 65 throws, so the volume read is holding. The yardage went where the offense went: Arizona did not complete a pass longer than nine yards. Two games settle little. Arizona is at the 49ers on Sunday the 20-seventh.
