Tyjae Spears was busy and costly against the Texans: 9 targets, 9 catches, 28 yards, plus 2 carries and a lost fumble. He finished at -5.2 expected points added (EPA) rushing and -2.9 receiving. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

The fumble mattered most. Tied 3-3 with 1:49 left in the first quarter, second and 4 at the Tennessee 38, he ran left, Robinson tackled him for a 1-yard loss and forced the fumble, and Jalen Pitre recovered at the Tennessee 35. That snap cost -5.5 EPA and 15.5 points of win probability, and Houston turned the short field into a 6-3 lead.

The catches came close to the line: -28 air yards on his targets and 56 yards after the catch. His best was 12 yards on third and 6 with 53 seconds left in the half, +0.9 EPA. A 35-yard gain to the Houston 8 in the fourth quarter came back on an offensive holding penalty.

Nine catches were more than his four-game total. Through Week 4 he had 5 catches on 7 targets for 40 yards, and 65 yards on 15 carries.
