28 to 27, Raiders, eight oh three left in the fourth quarter, third and six at the New Orleans 31. Tyler Shough threw short left for Bryce Lance, and it was intercepted at the Saints 43 and returned to the eight. Juwan Johnson made the tackle and the ball came loose, but Las Vegas recovered at the four. −6.5 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −29 points of win probability, the change in the chance of winning from before the play to after it, the largest swing of the game. Three snaps later Brock Bowers caught the touchdown that made it 34 to 27, 35 after the kick.
The line: 29 of 42 for 255 yards, four touchdowns, one interception, two sacks, and −7.1 expected points on 44 pass plays, sacks included. The touchdowns: two yards to Johnson on third and two in the first quarter, three to Noah Fant on third and three in the second, and in the third quarter one yard to Johnson and 16 to Fant, 50 seconds of game clock apart, around a Raiders fumble on the kickoff. That made it 27 to 16. From there New Orleans did not score. Its last five possessions ended in a punt; a sack and fumble at the Las Vegas 39 on third and four with the Saints up five; the interception; a sack and fumble on fourth and one from the Raiders 20, down eight; and Johnson's fumble after a catch with a minute two left. An interception with a minute 38 left came back on a Raiders illegal-contact penalty. 10 of 16 for 91 yards before halftime, 19 of 26 for a hundred 64 after. Third down: 11 pass plays, 10 throws, six completions, all six converted. Four throws traveled 20 or more yards in the air, and none was caught. His one run was a 36-yard scramble in the first quarter, tied for the longest run of the game.
13 throws went to Chris Olave, eight to Johnson, six to Devaughn Vele, four to Fant, three each to Lance and Kendre Miller, two to Travis Etienne, one to Alvin Kamara, and two had no receiver.
Back in June the preview made no call on Shough — a player with 11 games behind him, on a team that had spent its offseason arming him. Week 1 was 410 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, a comeback from 21 down that fell one two-point try short in overtime against the Lions. Week 2 was a fourth-quarter comeback that finished, over the Ravens. Sunday was the reverse of both: the Saints built an 11-point lead in the third quarter, and the fourth took it away. Three games, eight touchdown passes, three interceptions, one win. It is still three games. New Orleans is home to the Falcons on Monday the fifth.
