Tyler Shough Muffed it against the Vikings: 16 of 25, 96 yards, no touchdowns, 2 interceptions and 1 sack. He was worth -11.9 expected points added (EPA) on 26 dropbacks, -0.46 per dropback. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

The throw that defined it came with New Orleans down 13-7 and 7:45 left in the third quarter. Second and 26 at his own 38, he threw short right for Bryce Lance, and Byron Murphy intercepted at the Minnesota 49 and returned it 14 yards to the New Orleans 37. That was -5.0 EPA and -7.5 points of win probability, his costliest snap. Murphy took the second one too: down 23-13 with 2:56 left, third and 12 at the New Orleans 18, a deep throw for Chris Olave picked off at the Minnesota 46.

His best work came on the second quarter's opening drive. Down 3-0, he converted fourth and 2 at the Minnesota 41 with a 5-yard throw to Olave (+2.7 EPA) and fourth and 1 at the 27 with 4 yards to Devaughn Vele (+1.8). Kendre Miller finished the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run for a 7-3 lead.

It was a sharp break from his first four weeks: +4.4 EPA on 198 dropbacks, +0.02 per dropback, with 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. His completion percentage over expected (CPOE), how often he completed passes against what their difficulty predicted, was -8.0, after +3.2 through Week 4. His lowest yardage in any of those games was 252, against the Ravens.
