Tyler Shough had a hand in all four Saints touchdowns against the Giants without throwing for much: 16 of 30, 144 yards, 3 touchdowns, no interceptions, no sacks, and a 1-yard touchdown run. He was worth +3.5 expected points added (EPA) on 32 dropbacks, +0.11 per dropback. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

The go-ahead throw came at 10-10, 12:31 left in the third quarter. Second and 8 at the Giants' 31: he threw short to the right to Alvin Kamara, who went 31 yards for the touchdown, +3.6 EPA and +14.8 points of win probability. The tying score was nearly as big. Down 10-3 in the final minute of the first half, his 25-yard scramble reached the Giants' 3; with 5 seconds left, on fourth and 2 at the 2, he found Bryce Lance over the middle for the touchdown, +4.1 EPA and +14.6 points.

His legs added the rest. He ran 5 times for 32 yards, including a 9-yard scramble on third and 8 and the 1-yard score for 24-10.

The accuracy was not there. His completion percentage over expected (CPOE), how often he completed passes against what their difficulty predicted, was -17.2, and the Saints converted 4 of 15 third downs. Through Week 5 he had -7.5 EPA on 224 dropbacks, -0.03 per dropback, a CPOE of +1.9, 5 interceptions and 13 sacks, with 96 yards and 2 interceptions in Week 5.
