Tracy had no carry and no target on Monday night, and the week's stat file lists him with nothing from scrimmage — his only run, a 3-yard loss with 3:06 left in the half, was wiped out by a Rams offside penalty, and his other work was two 26-yard kickoff returns. The Giants' 21 designed runs went 12 to Cam Skattebo, four to Najee Harris, three to Devin Singletary and two to Jameis Winston, in a 28–6 loss to the Rams.

Tyrone Tracy finished Monday night with nothing from scrimmage. He was not thrown to, and the one time he was handed the ball — first and 10 at the Los Angeles 11 with three oh six left in the second quarter, left tackle for a three-yard loss — a defensive offside penalty on the Rams wiped the play out, so the week's stat file lists him with no carries, no targets and no yards. What he did do came on kicks: two kickoff returns of 26 yards each, and an assist on the tackle of a Rams return to open the third quarter.
What the Giants did on the ground is the football here, and it was not much. 21 designed runs for 52 yards, the second-fewest rushing yards of the 32 teams in Week Two, ahead only of Cleveland's 46, worth −6.0 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. Cam Skattebo took 12 of them for 36 yards, Najee Harris four for six, Devin Singletary three for nine, and Jameis Winston two for one, the second of those the fourth-and-one keeper at the Los Angeles 22 that the Rams challenged and did not overturn. 16 of the 21 runs came before halftime; after it, with New York behind by at least 11 from the opening snap of the third quarter to the end, there were five.
The passing-down work went elsewhere too. Skattebo was targeted four times and caught four, Singletary once. Between them the Giants' backs had five targets, and neither of the two catches that gained anything was Tracy's, because he did not have one.
Back in June the preview put Tracy on the watchlist: two nearly identical seasons, 9.6 and 9.5 points a game, a price of the 40-second back, and a job the head coach would not describe. It named the touch script — who gets the carries, who takes the third-down series — as the thing to watch. Week One answered part of it badly: two carries, a lost fumble on the second, no targets, and the passing-down work to Singletary. Week Two answered the rest: no touches from scrimmage, and a fourth back in Najee Harris taking carries. Two games is a small sample and a season is long, but nothing in these two has moved his way. New York is home to the Titans on Sunday the 20-seventh.
