Zach Charbonnet's status line didn't move: still on the physically-unable-to-perform list as of Monday, per Bob Condotta at The Seattle Times, with no reported change since in the accessed coverage. What moved is the calendar. Rosters cut to 53 on Sunday, August 30, and if Charbonnet is still on the list when they do, he misses a minimum of the season's first four games. Seven months out from the February knee surgery, that outcome has gone from the beat's expectation to a near-formality — one week of silence away.
The room he'd return to keeps reorganizing. Jadarian Price, the first-round rookie, came back from his soreness into full-speed team work — first-team reps Monday, team periods at Friday's joint practice in Nashville, per Condotta and the team's website — while Emanuel Wilson stayed out with his leg injury and the team signed rookie back Anthony Hankerson, per Condotta. Seattle plays the Titans today, after this episode is filed, and whoever takes the short-yardage and goal-line work in that game and the finale is auditioning for the specific short-yardage and goal-line job that made Charbonnet's last healthy season, and whoever scores Seattle's short touchdowns in September is borrowing his role.
Back in June the preview quoted the beat's expectation of a reserve-list start costing at least four games, and Sunday is the day that expectation becomes paperwork or doesn't. What to watch: the designation itself, the week's one genuine decision point, and where the goal-line carries go in the meantime. We'll check after cut day.
