24 to 16, Browns, a minute 51 left, fourth and 10 at the Cleveland 11. Aaron Rodgers threw short middle for Darnell Washington, incomplete, and McNeil-Warren was flagged for pass interference: first and goal at the three, 10.7 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. On the next snap Rodgers threw short right to Pat Freiermuth for the touchdown. Cleveland jumped offside on the two-point try, and from the one Rodgers ran it up the middle himself, 24 all, 13.7 points of win probability. The Browns kicked a 56-yard field goal with 15 seconds left, and Rodgers's last throw, deep right for Roman Wilson, was intercepted at the Cleveland 18.

The line: 22 of 40, 299 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, five sacks, and +3.4 expected points added on 45 pass plays — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. 12 of 21 for a hundred 38 before halftime, 10 of 19 for a hundred 61 after. The touchdowns: 12 yards to Wilson on second and 12 in the first quarter, 21 deep middle to Washington early in the fourth, and the three to Freiermuth. The first interception was the second snap of the second quarter, up seven, deep right for Michael Pittman, picked off at the Cleveland 44; Cleveland tied it four snaps later. Nine throws traveled 20 or more yards in the air: four were caught, two to DK Metcalf, and two were intercepted. On third down he had 11 pass plays, three completions, three conversions and three sacks.

The sacks came from five different Browns, three of them on third down, and one more was wiped out by a penalty.

Back in June the preview's case for Rodgers was availability, and it said to watch the deep connection with Metcalf. He has been the passer in all four games, and Thursday the connection showed up: 43 yards and 28, the first two deep catches by Metcalf this season. Four games: 88 of a hundred 53, 999 yards, seven touchdowns, four interceptions, 13 sacks. Six touchdowns in the last two games, after one in the first two.
