13 to three, Seattle, a minute 20 left in the first half, first and 10 at the Chargers' 20, one snap after Jones had intercepted Justin Herbert. Sam Darnold threw short middle to AJ Barner for 12 yards to the eight. +0.8 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. On the next snap Emanuel Wilson ran it in, and Seattle led 20 to three.
The line: three targets, one catch, 12 yards, one first down, −1.0 expected points on the targets. The misses: third and five at the Seattle 25 late in the first quarter, followed by a punt, and first and 10 near midfield with two oh two left in the game. Three of Darnold's 22 throws tied Barner with Rashid Shaheed, behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba's six and Wilson's four.
Back in June the preview leaned toward Barner on the catches, about four targets a game. Through four games he has 15 targets, nine catches and a hundred two yards, just under four a game, and nine of the 15 came in Washington.
