A.J. Brown drew volume against the Jets and got almost nothing from it: 10 of Drake Maye's 32 attempts, 3 catches, 27 yards, -7.4 expected points added (EPA) on his targets. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. It was a Muffed day inside a win.

The drive that summed it up came early in the third quarter, up 17-3. Third and 5 at the Jets 40, 11:57 left: a short pass to the right fell incomplete, -1.8 EPA. On fourth and 5 from the same spot, Maye went back to him short left, and it fell incomplete again, -2.6 EPA, handing the Jets the ball on downs.

The first half had the same pattern. A 9-yard catch in the first quarter was reversed to an incompletion on a Jets challenge, and on third and 4 at the Jets 14 with 1:52 left in the half, a pass to him fell incomplete and New England kicked a field goal for 10-3. His best catch, 15 yards at 1:23, opened the drive DeMario Douglas finished for 17-3.

His baseline is one game. In Week 1 against the Seahawks he caught 3 of 4 targets for 26 yards, +1.3 EPA.
