Alvin Kamara did his work as a receiver against the Steelers: 7 targets, 7 catches, 57 yards and +4.2 expected points added (EPA), the catches and the yards both his most this season. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. On the ground he ran 6 times for 5 yards and -3.6 EPA, and none of the 6 gained positive EPA.

His biggest catch came down 10-3 with 2:54 left in the half: third and 5 at the Pittsburgh 15, Tyler Shough threw short right and Kamara got to the 2 before he was pushed out, +2.3 EPA and 7.1 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. Devaughn Vele caught the tying touchdown four snaps later. On the opening drive of the third, his 6-yard catch drew an unnecessary-roughness penalty that added 15.

The run that hurt came down 16-10 early in the fourth: second and 5 at the Pittsburgh 32, Keeanu Benton and T.J. Watt dropped him for a 5-yard loss, -1.5 EPA. After a false start, his 7-yard catch on third and 14 left a 52-yard field goal, and Daniel Carlson missed it wide right.

The receiving line nearly matched his season. Through Week 6, in five games, he had caught 15 of 20 targets for 76 yards and -4.9 EPA. On the ground he had 35 carries for 120 yards, 2 touchdowns and -2.3 EPA, -0.07 a carry; here it was -0.60.
