Brenton Strange was steady and little more against the Texans: 5 catches on 7 targets, 44 yards, +0.6 expected points added (EPA). EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
His best catch came on third down. Down 7-0 with 3:44 left in the first quarter, third and 8 at the Houston 48, Trevor Lawrence threw short over the middle and Strange caught it for 10 yards to the 38: +2.1 EPA, +5.8 points of win probability. On the game's first Jacksonville snap he caught a 24-yarder deep left to the Houston 46, +1.7 EPA.
The late one came up short. Down 31-28 with 2:15 left, third and 10 at the Houston 48, his 6-yard catch reached the 42, -1.6 EPA; Jacksonville still tied the game at 31 on that drive.
It was a quieter day than his last two. Through Week 5 he had 26 targets, 21 catches, 235 yards, 1 touchdown and +10.4 EPA, with 95 yards in Week 4 and 68 in Week 5.
