The full read
Brenton Strange caught both passes thrown to him against the Colts: 2 targets, 2 catches, 55 yards and +3.3 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
Nearly all of it came on one throw. Scoreless, second and 5 at the Jacksonville 22 on a drive that had started at the 2, Trevor Lawrence went deep right and Strange was pushed out at the Indianapolis 32: 46 yards, +3.4 EPA and 9.5 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. It was his longest catch this season, against 27 before it, and the drive ended in Brian Thomas Jr.'s touchdown. His other catch, on third and 14 at his own 14 in the second quarter, went 9 yards and came up short of the sticks.
Per target it was well above his season. Through Week 7 he had 33 targets, 26 catches, 279 yards, a touchdown and +10.9 EPA, +0.33 a target; here it was +1.62.
