Chris Bell Camp Update — August 31: Two Catches in His NFL Debut

Chris Bell played NFL football this week. In Friday's 17-to-12 preseason finale loss to Atlanta, the rookie receiver — back from the anterior cruciate ligament he tore at Louisville in November — made his professional debut: two catches on five targets for 22 yards, including an 18-yarder, per Shayne Kubas at Phin Phanatic. Two days later he was on the initial 53-man roster Miami announced Sunday, per Grace O'Donnell on the team's official site. Less than two weeks ago this file was recording three no-contact routes in a red jersey. Now it records a game.

Both halves of last week's watch item — whether his practice participation would escalate out of the red jersey, and whether he would take a snap against Atlanta before cutdown — are answered yes, the second one emphatically. One honest caveat on the first: no reachable report documents the moment he left the no-contact jersey; the game itself is the evidence he did.
