15 to 10, Vikings, five 54 left, third and eight at the Miami 20. Malik Willis threw deep middle for Chris Bell, 25 yards in the air, incomplete. −1.1 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −4.2 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. Miami punted and did not get the ball back.
The line: three targets, no catches, −3.9 expected points on the targets, 70 air yards. All three came on third down and all three were deep: 19 yards in the air on third and nine, 26 on third and four, flagged as an illegal touch on Bell, and the 25 at the end. Three of 17 Miami throws, third on the team behind Malik Washington's five and Kevin Coleman Jr.'s four.
Back in June the preview's case for Bell was the opportunity against the knee, a third-round rookie in a depth chart it called open. Week 3 was seven targets and 67 yards; Sunday the throws were few and all long. Four games: 13 targets, five catches, 92 yards.
