Christian Watson Camp Update — August 31: In the Six-Receiver Room
2026 NFL Season · Monday, Aug 31
Green Bay kept six receivers on Sunday's initial fifty-three, and Christian Watson is one of them. The week produced no individual Watson item at all — no practice mention, no appearance in a finale account that has no starters in it — so the target-volume question goes to September intact.
When Christian Watson's week moves the numbers, you'll know — every episode, in one weekly email.

Green Bay kept six receivers on the initial 53 announced Sunday, and Christian Watson is one of them — alongside Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Skyy Moore, Bo Melton and undrafted rookie J. Michael Sturdivant, per Wes Hodkiewicz at packers.com. The shape of that room is the week's story: all three of the finale's receiver standouts — Will Sheppard, Isaiah Neyor and Kisean Johnson — were cut, per Bill Huber at Packers On SI, while Sturdivant took the sixth spot after six catches for a hundred 12 yards and a touchdown in the finale, per Justis Mosqueda at Acme Packing Company, putting Green Bay in position to extend its streak to 22 consecutive years of an undrafted rookie making the Week One roster, per Hodkiewicz. Savion Williams went to injured reserve, designated to return, per Evan Siegle at packers.com.
Watson himself generated no individual coverage in the window. The one practice writeup in hand, from Wednesday's joint session with Arizona, names Golden on the day's big play from Jordan Love and does not mention Watson — an absence of coverage, not a reported absence, and he appears on no absence list. He does not appear in Friday's finale coverage either; Kyle McCord played the whole game and no starters appear in the beat's account of it, per Mike Spofford at packers.com.
Our last episode asked three things: whether he'd play the finale — he does not appear in it, and neither does any other starter; how often Love looks his way with Reed and Golden both active — the window produced no answer, and we won't infer a pecking order from silence; and whether the room survives cutdown in its current shape — it survived and consolidated to six. Since our June preview, the open question on Watson — a big-play receiver whose production has always been score-dependent — has been target volume, and August ends with that question untouched and Watson on the roster to answer it. We'll be back when the volume question gets its first real data.
