Green Bay up 17 to 14 on the Buccaneers, 12 58 left, third and three at the Green Bay 39, no huddle. Jordan Love threw short left to Christian Watson, and Watson took it 18 yards to the Tampa Bay 43. +1.9 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 7.4 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. It was Green Bay's only third-down conversion through the air all afternoon. Five snaps later, on second and 10 at the Tampa Bay 16, Watson caught a 13-yarder to the three. On the next snap Kaleb Johnson fumbled, and Tampa Bay recovered.
The line: three targets, three catches, 47 yards, two first downs, +4.9 expected points on the targets, the most of any Packer thrown to. The first catch was 16 yards on first and 19 from the Green Bay 17 in the second quarter, after a holding call. Earlier in the second quarter a 24-yard catch came back on offensive pass interference against Watson himself.
Three targets were fourth on the team, behind seven each to Matthew Golden and Tucker Kraft and five to MarShawn Lloyd.
Back in June the preview made no call on Watson and set target volume, past six or seven a game, as the September watch. Weeks 1 through 3 were eight, 11 10 targets, with a touchdown in every game. Sunday was three and no touchdown. Four games: 32 targets, 20 catches, 331 yards, four touchdowns, eight targets a game. The volume question was answered in September; Sunday is the first week it went the other way.
