Colston Loveland had his best game of the season against the Falcons: 7 targets, 6 catches, 65 yards, 1 touchdown and +4.4 expected points added (EPA) on his targets. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
He opened the scoring. Tied 0-0 with 8:25 left in the first quarter, second and 13 at the Atlanta 14: Caleb Williams threw short to the right and Loveland scored, +2.8 EPA and +7.7 points of win probability. He had started that drive too, with a 16-yard catch on its first snap, +1.1 EPA, and added a 6-yarder along the way.
He set up a second score before halftime. Up 14-7 with 1:43 left, first and 10 at the Atlanta 10, an 8-yard catch put the ball at the 2, +0.9 EPA; D'Andre Swift ran it in two plays later for 21-7. A holding call on him also wiped out an 11-yard Swift run in the second quarter.
It turns around a slow start. Through Week 5 he had 23 targets, 13 catches, 110 yards, no touchdowns and -9.0 EPA, with a previous high of 57 yards in Week 4.
