Swift carried eighteen times for a hundred twenty-four yards and three touchdowns — one-yard scores in the first and third quarters and a twenty-eight-yarder with three forty-seven left — and caught his one target for ten. Eighteen carries led Chicago on a day the Bears ran thirty-nine times for two hundred ninety-one yards, in a 59–37 win over the Panthers.

The last of D'Andre Swift's three touchdowns Sunday was the only one that did not start at the one-yard line. Second and one at the Carolina 28, three 47 left in the fourth quarter, Chicago up 52 to 37: behind the right guard, 28 yards, worth +4.5 expected points added, the largest figure in his day, and almost nothing in win probability, because the game was already decided. Expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. The other two were both up the middle from the one: third and one with two oh three left in the first quarter, tied seven to seven, and first and one with three oh eight left in the third, tied 31 to 31. He had set both up himself, five yards to the one on second and six, four yards to the one on second and four.
The line: 18 carries, a hundred 24 yards, three touchdowns, five first downs, 10 of the 18 successful, +9.2 expected points on the carries. The longest was 32, first and 10 at the Carolina 45 with eight 19 left in the first, Chicago down seven to nothing, behind the right tackle to the 13; Caleb Williams scrambled for the touchdown three plays later. The first snap from scrimmage of the season was also his — 17 yards on the field behind the right tackle, nine in the book after a holding call on Rome Odunze. 10 carries before halftime for 67 yards, eight after for 57. His one target was a 10-yard catch short middle on first and 10 from the Carolina 48, seven 53 left in the third, tied at 31.
The split: Swift 18, Kyle Monangai 10, Williams 10 — seven of those scrambles — and Luther Burden one. Chicago ran 20 times before halftime and 19 after, and threw 16 times and 13. Monangai's hundred came 61 on one carry; Swift's hundred 24 came 18 carries at a time, and every rushing touchdown by a Bears running back was his.
Back in June the preview called Swift a career year the market was ignoring — an RB15 season across 16 games built on sustained volume. Sunday was sustained volume with the touchdowns attached: 18 carries, the most on the team, and three scores. A single game does not make the market wrong, and this one was played the way the preview said the year had been. Chicago is home to the Vikings on Sunday the twentieth. The number to watch is 18 against 10.
