D'Andre Swift scored twice near the goal line against the Falcons, but the yards between the 20s were hard to find: 16 carries, 44 yards, 2 touchdowns and -2.1 expected points added (EPA) on the ground. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. Six of his 16 carries (38%) gained positive EPA.
The first score came in the first quarter, up 7-0. After a no-gain run on second and 4 at the Atlanta 4, he went over left guard on third and 4 with 1:10 left and scored, +2.5 EPA and +3.1 points of win probability, for 14-0. He had moved that drive along with an 8-yard catch to the 10 and a 4-yard run on second and 2.
The second was a third and 2 from the Atlanta 2, up 14-7 with 1:30 left in the half. He went over right guard for 21-7, +2.0 EPA.
The rest was a grind. A 14-yard run came on third and 18, short of the line, and an 11-yard run was wiped out by a holding call. His 4 catches went for 26 yards and +0.6 EPA.
It was his second multi-touchdown game. Through Week 5 he had 78 carries, 354 yards, 4 touchdowns and -3.5 EPA, with 46% of carries positive.
