Devaughn Vele moved the chains once when it counted against the Vikings: 6 targets, 4 catches, 26 yards, +0.3 expected points added (EPA) on his targets. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

Down 3-0 with 11:13 left in the second quarter, the Saints faced fourth and 1 at the Minnesota 27. Tyler Shough threw short left and Vele caught it for 4 yards to the 23: +1.8 EPA and +4.9 points of win probability. Just before, on third and 11, he had caught a 10-yarder to the 27. Kendre Miller's 2-yard touchdown run finished the drive.

Two third-down throws to him fell incomplete: a deep ball on third and 9 in the first quarter (-1.5 EPA) and a short one on third and 5 in the second (-1.2).

His 26 yards were his fewest of the season. Weeks 1 through 4 brought 31 targets, 21 catches, 226 yards, 2 touchdowns and +14.1 EPA.
