DeVonta Smith drew the targets against the Panthers but turned too few of them into anything: 14 targets, 7 catches, 75 yards, a touchdown and -0.5 expected points added (EPA) on his targets. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. Tanner McKee threw 179 air yards his way; Smith added 9 after the catch.

The touchdown came down 19-7 with 10:48 left. Second and 6 at the Carolina 19: McKee threw deep right and Smith caught it for the score, +2.7 EPA and +7.6 points of win probability, to make it 19-14. On the next possession, third and 18 at the Philadelphia 40, a short pass to him fell incomplete, -5.0 points of win probability.

That was the pattern on the money downs. Four third-down targets fell incomplete, and so did a deep throw on fourth and 17 with 4:32 left, down 25-14. His best conversion was a 16-yard catch on third and 7 in the second quarter, +2.2 EPA.

It was below his start. In Weeks 1–3 he had 27 targets, 19 catches, 235 yards, 1 touchdown and +1.3 EPA, with 117 yards in Week 2.
