24 to 14, 49ers, a minute 52 left, fourth and three at the Denver 49. Bo Nix threw short left to Evan Engram for six yards and the first down. +2.4 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. The drive ended four snaps later on a missed 58-yard field goal.

The line: five targets, one catch, six yards, −1.6 expected points on the targets. Two of the incompletions were third downs in the second quarter, third and seven at the Denver 37 and third and five at the San Francisco 42, and Denver punted after both. The others were first and 20 in the first quarter and second and three on the last drive.

Five targets were fourth on the Broncos, behind RJ Harvey, Jaylen Waddle and Courtland Sutton.

Back in June the preview called the volume the repeatable part and his place on the depth chart the risk. His targets have gone five, one, two and five. Four games: 13 targets, six catches, 66 yards, one touchdown.
