George Kittle scored first against the Commanders and was quieter after: 5 catches on a season-high 8 targets, 69 yards, a touchdown and +0.8 expected points added (EPA). EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

The touchdown finished the opening drive. First and 10 at the Washington 11 with 10:58 left in the first quarter, Brock Purdy threw short left and Kittle took it in for 11 yards, +1.7 EPA, 7-0. His longest came early in the third, up 20-3: first and 10 at the San Francisco 33, a 35-yarder down the right side to the Washington 32, +2.1 EPA, on a drive that ended in Eddy Pineiro's 33-yard field goal.

Two third-down catches fell short of the line, 12 yards on third and 15 and 4 on third and 5; Purdy ran for the first down on fourth both times. His last target, third and 11 early in the fourth, fell incomplete, -1.2 EPA, and San Francisco punted.

Through Week 5 he had 28 targets, 21 catches, 268 yards, 4 touchdowns and +12.6 EPA.
