Harold Fannin Jr. was the one part of Cleveland's offense that worked against the Steelers: 12 targets, 10 catches, a season-high 154 yards and +8.3 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position, the fumble included. That is +0.69 a target, and 78 of the yards came after the catch.
The game started badly for him. On third and 14 at the Cleveland 40, with Shedeur Sanders in for an injured Deshaun Watson, he caught a 2-yard pass and Daylen Everette knocked the ball loose and recovered it; Pittsburgh challenged the down-by-contact ruling and won, -3.5 EPA and 4.9 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win.
His biggest catch came down 27-6 early in the fourth: third and 4 at the Pittsburgh 39, Watson threw deep right and Fannin got 37 yards to the 2 before he was pushed out, +4.2 EPA. Cleveland did not score; a throw to him from the 5 on second down fell incomplete. In the second quarter his 12-yarder on third and 6 and a 25-yarder deep right to the Pittsburgh 19 set up Andre Szmyt's 32-yard field goal.
The 154 yards were more than half of the 257 he had through Week 7, on 39 targets for 25 catches, 3 touchdowns and +5.3 EPA. His previous high was 91 against the Titans.
