Jacoby Brissett threw 48 times against the Broncos and got one touchdown out of it: 27 completions, 272 yards, no interceptions, three sacks, plus 7 carries for 16 yards, in a 30-16 loss at home. Over 53 dropbacks, the sacks and two scrambles included, he was worth -6.1 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position, -0.11 a dropback. The first half did most of it: 18 dropbacks, -7.5 EPA. He completed 1 of 6 deep throws, for 26 yards.

His best throw came down 20-6 with 3:54 left in the third quarter. Second and 7 at the Denver 7, he threw short right to Trey McBride for the touchdown, +1.77 EPA. Earlier on that drive, on third and 7 at the Denver 41, he had hit Michael Wilson for 11 yards and a first down, +1.99 EPA. Down 30-13 in the fourth, his 26-yard throw deep left to McBride on third and 10 was worth +2.94 EPA, the biggest of his day; the drive ended in a field goal.

The end summed it up. Down 30-16 with 2:09 left, his 35-yard throw to Jalen Brooks reached the Denver 1. Two pass-interference flags gave him fresh downs; he was stopped on a run up the middle, sacked at the 5, and threw incomplete to Wilson on third and fourth down. He also converted two fourth and 1s himself, on runs up the middle.

It was a step down from his season. Through Week 6 he had completed 156 of 234 for 1,328 yards, 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, at a break-even +0.007 EPA per dropback over 249 dropbacks. Completion percentage over expected (CPOE), which compares completions with what each throw's difficulty predicts, was -4.7 here, against +1.7 through Week 6. It was his first game without an interception since Week 3.
